Your Not Listening

Filed under: They still aren't listening.

But Republican leaders wouldn't allow a vote on a volatile proposal to deny citizenship to babies born in this country to illegal immigrants. And they put off consideration of a guest worker program, which President Bush and many lawmakers say must be part of a lasting solution to the illegal immigrant problem.
Nope, we be diggin' slaves too much.

Nobody is advocating the deportation of 11 million illegal
immigrants, said Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., sponsor of a guest worker measure.
Without a temporary worker program, he said, "We simply won't enforce the law,
and that's the dirty little secret here.''
Actually Mr. Flake, that's exactly, precisely, minutely what I am suggesting. Why aren't you?

While many agree with Flake, there are wide differences on
the details of a guest worker program. Some lawmakers would require those in the
country illegally to leave before applying for such a program, arguing that
counter proposals allowing those already here to seek legal status is equivalent
to amnesty.
You know who doesn't agree with Mr. Flaming Asshat Flake? The American people, isn't that interesting?

Look, I dig slaves as much as the next guy, really I do, and I think every American has not just the right but the responsibility to expect slaves to serve them. We are the superior people after all, right?

How dare I even suggest that the importation of wage depressing slaves might not be the best course of action. I seem to recall that the point of having representatives in Washington was so they could look after the rights and comforts of those WHO AREN'T EVEN CITIZENS!

But I could be wrong.

What say you?
