Dumbass Statements and the Dumbass Politicians Who Make Them

Following are three quotes from three politicians who showed up to support ILLEGAL immigration at Friday's march in Chicago.

“Ustedes no son criminales. Ustedes son trabajadores.”- Governor Rod Blagojevich.
(You are not criminals. You are workers.) I hate to break the news to my governor, but the march was billed as a march for legalization. The need (or in this case, desire) to legalize something means that it was ILLEGAL to start with.

"I have never been prouder to march, to show my commitment to a cause, than I have been today. We have brought together the true fabric of what Chicago is, of what our country is."- U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez.
A question for my representative in Congress: did you really say that ILLEGAL immigrants are the true fabric of Chicago and our country? What about us citizens...you know, the people you've been elected to represent? Are we chopped liver? Wait...let me check your voting record....YES! Apparently in your world, those of us who were born here or came here legally ARE chopped liver.

"Those who are undocumented, we are not going to make criminals out of them. Everyone in America is an immigrant."- Mayor Richard Daley.
As much as I hate to put the smackdown on my own mayor...

im·mi·grant: a person who comes to a country to take up permanent residence

...that makes at least two people in this country who are NOT immigrants...you and me, Mayor Daley. And it's a little too late for us to "make criminals out of them." If they are "undocumented," that means that they broke the law to come here, so they've already taken care of that themselves.

Does anyone else out there find it utterly sad that this was so damn easy?
