Ramos and Compean Sentenced

Source: San Bernardino Sun

"Is this it?" Ramos' wife, Monica, asked from the office of attorney Mary Stillinger. "I don't even know what to say or think right now."

It would only be a few hours later that U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cardone would sentence Ramos to 11 years and one day in prison and fellow agent Jose Alonso Compean to 12 years. Their families gasped when the sentences were read.
Background here and here.

These two Border Patrol agents definitely made some mistakes, like trying to cover up the fact that they had shot Aldrete-Davila. What truly bothers me about this case is that, as always, citizens are being zealously prosecuted while the government turns a blind eye to the millions of aliens who break the law just by being here. Not to mention other crimes that may be committed after they get here. Working illegally. Social Security fraud. Collecting government assistance. I could go on, but I haven't got all day...it's almost time to start work so I can pay for someone's anchor baby, an illegal's emergency room visit for a sore throat, and subsidize an illegal's in-state college tuition.

Ramos and Compean were convicted in March of assault with serious bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, a civil-rights charge and obstruction of justice for shooting Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila near Fabens, Texas, as he attempted to smuggle nearly $1 million worth of marijuana into the U.S.

The U.S. Attorney's Office granted Aldrete-Davila immunity from prosecution in exchange for testifying against the two agents. During the hearing, Kanof said Aldrete-Davila was just trying to get back home to Mexico when he was accosted by the agents.
See, this is exactly what I'm getting at. They prosecute the guys who work a dangerous job, trying to protect this country and its citizens, for not enough money and with far too many ways in which their hands are tied. They give immunity to the illegal alien who was "just trying to get back home to Mexico"...after entering the country illegally to smuggle in almost $1 million of marijuana.!

It's a world gone made in this country, a world gone mad. I'll allow myself one question, one demand of our government, and one rare curse word, then I'll end this post before I explode.

Who the hell do you think you work for? Get anyone here illegally the fuck out of our country, already.
