Well here's an interesting argument from Alan Greenspan...
Former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan said allowing more skilled immigrants to work in the United States would help keep the income gap from widening. Inequality of incomes is the 'critical area where capitalist systems are most vulnerable,' Greenspan said yesterday in Washington at a conference on maintaining the competitiveness of US capital markets convened by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. 'You cannot have a system that we have unless the people who participate in it believe it is just,'" the Boston Globe reports. "Allowing more skilled workers into the country would bring down the salaries of top earners in the United States, easing tensions over the mounting wage gap, Greenspan said. 'Our skilled wages are higher than anywhere in the world,' he said. 'If we open up a significant window for skilled workers, that would suppress the skilled-wage level and end the concentration of income.'"
Kind of makes it hard to argue that mass immigration doesn't lower wages when you then turn around and argue that you wish to increase immigration for the sole purpose of...decreasing wages!

Or Al, may I call you Al? We could stop mass and illegal immigration, have consistent enforcement of our immigration laws across the board, or as the Center For Immigration Studies calls it an "attrition strategy" and allow the blue collar wages in this country to return to where they ought to be.

Nah, too crazy right? Let's just keep turning America into Calcutta, that's where the real prosperity lies, right?

A final thought, one of the arguments of the "Cobhamites" is that through "free Trade" we are trying to bring world wages up to the US level. Isn't Al stating very clearly here that the goal is to drive US wages down to crappy world levels? Which has been one of the arguments against these lunatic "Free Trade" agreements?

If other countries want to end the "concentration of income" in the US? Here's a thought, stop being such corrupt or socialist third world crapholes and get your act together!

Just a thought!
