Coalition to Battle HR4437

A U.S. coalition of business, labor unions and religious groups launched a campaign on Thursday to defeat a bill backed by Republicans that would turn some 11 million illegal immigrants into felons.

Actually, 203 Republicans and 36 Democrats voted for HR4437. I like to think of them as a bi-partisan coalition campaigning to fix a BIG problem.

Andy Stern, president of the Service Employees International Union, which has 1.8 million members, called for comprehensive reform to take control of the border and provided a way for illegal aliens to gain legal status.

"By establishing a legal, orderly process, we can bring immigrant workers in this country out of the shadows and under our laws, connect those workers with willing employers and allow our overburdened law enforcement and border patrols to focus on protecting Americans from those who might do us harm," he said.
What is this obsession that some people seem to have with rewarding those who came here ILLEGALLY with legal status? I don't get it.

And this guy has the nerve to talk about "protecting Americans from those who might do us harm?" As if our country being flooded with ILLEGAL aliens who work ILLEGALLY, drive wages down, soak up taxpayer-funded education ILLEGALLY, take taxpayer-funded medical care ILLEGALLY, and help themselves to social service program resources ILLEGALLY isn't harming Americans.

It's just insulting.

Read the letter I wrote to President Bush telling him so here.
