Compromise reached on guest-worker plan

This is vitally important. Think for a moment what precisely is being debated here. How we can best serve the needs of criminal aliens in this country over and above the needs and desires of citizens. Any poll (and I don't trust polls) suggests that an overwhelming number of Americans detest illegal immigration. So what's the big worry on Capitol hill? Do we give them citizenship now or in six years. How about a national referendum on this?
I've said it before and I will say it again now, I will not respect this law if passed. I will not honor any citizenship granted in this way, and I will spend my life seeing these people removed from this country.
I will never allow criminals to profit from their crimes, I will never allow citizenship in this country to be treated so poorly again. We have suffered for years under a cowardly and appeasing government. There are things a country cannot tolerate and survive, and this is one. We made this horrible mistake once before under Reagan and it did not turn out well. In fact most of the reasons you now hear for why we must do this came out of that terrible piece of legislation. Even worse, those who sold us that particular bill of goods are at it again. They will never be happy until this country is destroyed from within.
Again, this is no longer a partisan issue. There is virtually no difference between the parties on this issue. Each is worse than the other.
I have no expectation that our government will do the will of the people. I do have every expectation that they will try to sell us another bill of goods. Understand this, I will not accept or tolerate it. This has passed beyond insanity. I will not see this great land dragged down into a third world hell hole, I won't!
So ask yourself this as you sit with the TV clicker in your hand, what are you personally willing to do for your country? Lay your life on the line? Your comfort? Are you willing to be called a racist or worse to stand up for this land that has done so much for every person on this planet.
It was said by a person much wiser than me, “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable.” This is where I'm at. I don't deny it, I don't dance around it. I'm ready for a radical change to the status quo which has never truly served the American people.
It is time for the American people to take this issue away from our elected officials who have made it painfully clear they could give a rat's ass about us. It is time to do the job they won't and remove illegal aliens from this country. It is time to act like we are something other than an economy pretending to be a country.
When I think of our brave men and women fighting for our freedom in Iraq, I ask myself:what are they fighting for exactly?" Our right to do business abroad? Our right to be overrun in our own land, and make no mistake, this is YOUR land and you are being overrun.
So to our best and brightest who risk life and limb in Iraq, how will you look them in the eye if we meekly hand away the very thing they're fighting and dying to protect. How will you sleep at night if you simply lie down and allow our 'representative' government to act in ways we never approved of.
What kind of homeland will they come home to?
We talk a lot about homeland security, what homeland? If anyone who can stroll over the border is entitled to citizenship then citizenship literally has no meaning or value.
If you're the sort who thinks only in terms of the economy. If you're thinking "but Jake, what's the big deal?" Then I hate to be the one to break the news to you, you aren't an American. You are part of the problem, you are the enemy and you should be ashamed of yourself. A country is more than a means of making money, a place to earn money, a piece of dirt.
A sovereign country has a shared culture and a respect for it's law and borders. Citizenship in a sovereign country should be a gift of great value. Not a card you can buy for a thousand dollars after breaking the law. Shame on you Mr. Bush, Shame on you for selling our heritage and country so cheaply to those who do not value it, as I suppose you don't.

WASHINGTON – The Senate Judiciary Committee today reached agreement on proposals for a new guest-worker program and a plan to allow the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States to become permanent residents. This is the time for Americans to step up. Do you approve of illegal immigration? Do you feel lawbreakers should be rewarded with citizenship? How highly do you value this country?
Less than 24 hours after most experts and Capitol Hill watchers believed the committee would be unable to get a bill to the Senate floor by Majority Leader Bill Frist's March 27 deadline, committee Chairman Arlen Specter had brokered deals between some key senators on the complex issue.
No formal votes were taken and committee staffs were preparing to spend the next 10 days drafting language that would put in place the compromises reached. It appeared that at least a dozen of the 18 members on the panel would be prepared to back this deal. The committee plans to meet first thing in the morning on March 27. It is not yet known whether Frist will allow the panel to finish and send its bill to the Senate floor or if he still plans to bring up a more limited, possibly enforcement-only measure.
