Hillary is No Thatcher

Source: Stephen Bainbridge (H/T Michelle Malkin)

Bainbridge pokes holes -- big ones -- in the recent comparisons of Hillary Clinton to Margaret Thatcher. Let's face it -- the Hillary/Maggie comparison is about as apt as last year's Elvira Arellano/Rosa Parks one.

A taste of Bainbridge's side-by-side quote comparison:

Thatcher: There is no such thing as society: there are individual men and women, and there are families.

Clinton: We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for society.

Thatcher: No one would remember the Good Samaritan if he’d only had good intentions—he had money as well.

Clinton: We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.
Color me unimpressed...with Hillary, that is.

Bainbridge sums it up nicely:

While Thatcher said of Reagan that he "loved America and what it stands for - freedom and opportunity for ordinary people," it will be said of Clinton that she loved government and believed in a zero-sum world in which paternaliztic handouts are more important than providing opportunity for individual success.
