A smart political observer said to me recently that Romney is an opportunist, but he is an opportunist you can count on. He may bring a girl to the dance for political reasons, but he will stay with the girl he brought. And that’s the way he struck me in his speech. He was marrying himself to conservative principles and the conservative movement in a way that I think can be reasonably counted on in the event he becomes president.
