2,500 Irish lobby Congress for right to stay in US

More than 2,500 undocumented Irish immigrants and their supporters braved a snowstorm yesterday to rally in Washington in support of reforms that would allow them to stay in the US legally and eventually apply for citizenship.

Dressed in green and white T-shirts with the slogan "Legalise The Irish", the mostly young demonstrators from New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Francisco and elsewhere spent the morning lobbying members of Congress in their Capitol Hill offices.

At the rally, which was organised by the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform (ILIR), a succession of senators and congressmen, including Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Rodham Clinton, spoke in support of immigration reform and urged the Irish lobbyists to carry on the fight.

"We are grateful to you because you are not only standing up for yourselves but for countless others who have no voice and cannot come here to Washington. You are making a strong statement about the importance of America remaining true to its values," Mrs Clinton said.

White people demanding amnesty?

Now, according to Hannitized we should have no problem with this, right? After all this site is dedicated to hating brown people and Mexico, right?

Uh-huh, no, of course I want these folks deported every bit as much as anybody else. It really is about the rule of law.

But if that were true why is it this blog spends so much time on the crimes and presence of brown people? I think you'll find the answer here...

Celine Kennelly, director of San Francisco's Irish Immigration Pastoral Center, estimates that 50,000 of the country's 150,000 Irish-born residents are illegal,

The number of illegal European immigrants is dwarfed by those from other countries, so statistically they are not going to show up on the radar in the same way. And of course we can only print the news that comes over the transom, if European invaders were anally raping puppies or committing rapes or pedophilia or murders or moving drugs and joining gangs, not to mention making reconquista talk we would cheerfully report it, but to the best of my knowledge they aren't so we can't.

All that to say, deport the bums! Illegal IS illegal! I don't give a rats ass if you're white, black, brown or covered in delicious chocolaty sprinkles, illegal IS illegal.

So, and I grow so easily confused in my Scotch soaked dotage, America's true values, the one shining truism we can all hang our hats on, is illegal immigration?

As to no voice? Oddly enough I believe their voices are conveniently located back in Ireland.

How about this logic pretzel from "Sweaty Teddy?"

Mr Kennedy told the rally that he relished the battle to push immigration reform through Congress so that a Bill will reach Mr Bush's desk later this year. "This is basically an issue of defining our humanity, how we treat each other. I can't wait for this battle," he said.

That's Teddy, fighting like the Dickens for those who aren't his constituents, what a guy!

If you genuinely think this blog "hates brown people" or is unfairly biased against those who are here illegally and "brown?" Fine, please direct my attention to the manifold stories of white illegal immigrants you think we are ignoring.
