Lead Singers + The (D)

Yeah, this be kinder funny...

Second Amendments launch tour

Everyone’s favorite (and only) congressional rock band, the Second Amendments, is packing up its amps and hitting the road.

And blah, blah, blah until we get to this...

Rep. Jon Porter (R-Nev.), chairman of the Government Reform Subcommittee on Federal Workforce and Agency Organization, is leading the codel. He plays the keyboards.
Joining him are Reps. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) on lead vocals, Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) on lead guitar, Dave Weldon (R-Fla.) on bass and Kenny Hulshof (R-Mo.) on drums.

Did you catch the funny?

It's as obvious as the nose on your face when you see it.

Anything?

Joining him are Reps. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) on lead vocals, as a cat who played in bands for twenty years I can hardly express my amusement at the almost shocking appropriateness of the lead singer being a (D).

The mind boggles.

I have actually contemplated writing a series of articles in which I would talk about the different personality types that populate bands, specifically the relationship between certain instrumentalists and their respective neurosis.

When you think of a lead singer what comes to mind?

Prima Donna? Check!

Arrogant? Check!

Sense of entitlement? Check!

Most likely to break up a good thing? Check!

Remind you of any peculiar political party(D)?

I may have to write those articles. I have a whole rap about how the drummer and bassist are the blue collar guys who show up to work every day for very little glory, while lead singers and guitarists are often the elites who seem to be showered with glory for mere existence.

Of course that might be a wee bit of bitterness peeking here as I played drums professionally for fifteen years.
