The Immigration Reform Litmus Test

The Mexican government said Friday that it sees signs that the U.S. Senate will pass an immigration reform bill that is similar to what Mexico has proposed and will be beneficial to interests on both sides of the border.

President Vicente Fox's spokesman, Ruben Aguilar, told reporters that the Mexican government "detects a very favorable environment" and has noted "very positive and encouraging statements" by lawmakers in Washington regarding eventual passage of the legislation.

"There is a real possibility that over the next few days the Senate will approve an immigration reform bill that is in line with what Mexico has proposed and that benefits the two countries," Aguilar said.
It's all here.

Well, that's all I need to know. If it's "in line with what Mexico has proposed," then I know it's going to screw the American people. That means...

If you haven't been madly contacting your senators, and all senators on the Judiciary Committee, which has been working on an immigration reform proposal for the past couple of weeks, then you'd better get off your butt and start making up for lost time.

If you have been madly contacting your senators, THANK YOU, and keep up the good work.

Because...

Mexico has encouraged Washington to enact an immigration law that ensures the "legal, orderly and humane" flow of immigrants north of the border, puts in place a temporary worker program and legalizes the status of undocumented immigrants already living in the United States, among other measures.

Translation:

Mexico wants us to accept an unlimited stream of Mexican citizens into the country to take jobs, drive down wages, and chip away at the American identity.

Mexico wants us to "legalize" the millions of ILLEGAL aliens already living and working here -- an amnesty for those who broke into this country to take from the American economy to remit back into the Mexican economy.

Mexico wants us to embrace the millions of ILLEGAL aliens who are already here, and leave the door open for a continued influx of people who give their allegiance to Mexico, not America.

How is any of this good for the average American? ANSWER: IT'S NOT. But why should the Mexican government care what's good for America? They're looking out for Mexico, not the U.S. And, hey, that's what they're supposed to do.

Too bad our own government can't seem to figure that one out.
