Never Thought I'd See The Day...
When I agreed with anything posted on Daily Kos.
Well, that day has come.
One of the diarists posted on illegal immigration and I just kept reading on through the comments. What really struck me was that the number and ferocity of pro and con commentors was about equivalent to a conservative blog. Some of the commentors also made some excellent points.
My favorite...
As an Anglo Californian, I have heard people say things like "It's the illegals that you are complaining about who are the ones that mow your lawn and service your swimming pool and change your oil and bus your table in restaurants."
To which I replied, "I think that you're confusing me with a stereotype. We don't have a swimming pool. We also don't have a lawn. We do have a small garden, which my wife and I care for ourselves. I change my own oil, thank you very much. And as for eating out in restaurants, we don't do that very often. In partial measure because we're paying significantly increased state and local taxes in order to educate and medicate the children of illegals."
Long silence follows. As it ought to.
Read it, and if anyone in Washington is paying attention to this humble blog, pay attention!
