Education Professionals?

Source: boston.com

From 01/29/06
Okay, the story is a Hispanic principal, the first Hispanic principal in the history of the universe!  Was suspended for reasons the school superintendant wasn't willing to go into on the record.  Then the charge of racism reared it's ugly head.  Here's how this highly educated education professional responded.

Shhh, let's listen in....
Parrella also declined to discuss the reasons Shepard-Cabrera was placed on leave, except to say that it was not related to teacher morale or, as some parents have suggested, a matter of racism.

''It couldn't be," the superintendent said Wednesday. ''Dr. Cabrera is a white woman -- well, she's a European woman." Shepard-Cabrera is a native of the Spanish-owned Canary Islands.
Did you catch that? It couldn't be racism because this individual is white. You think these folks know what the word actually means? I don't, let's give them a helping hand, shall we?
From Dictionary.com
rac‧ism  /ˈreɪsɪzəm/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[rey-siz-uhm] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.
You'll note if you've enjoyed a refreshing caffienated beverage today that the definition of racism says nothing whatsoever about to whom it may be applied.  To put it more simply, yes, white people can be discriminated against.

Every time I spend time with an "EDUCATIONAL PROFESSIONAL" I weep for the future.  Let's just say that this high school drop out has kicked some major Trivial Pursuit booty against "EDUCATIONAL PROFESSIONALS."  Do they even bother to teach the language anymore, seriously, I constantly bump up against folks who appear to have no idea what words actually mean.

See... Civil Rights...NOT!
