Quote Of The Day

"The great power of Latin America is its culture. We don't spend a dime trying to penetrate culturally; yet, we're changing the language, the food, the music, the way of being. We're changing you into a Latin country."
Gabriel Garcia Marquez
A reminder of what a "Latin" country looks like...here...here...here.

I don't normally rebut quotes but, other than the mass importation of people, and Taco Bell, what is this asshat talking about? Yes, they are importing consumers for those things, Americans aren't really huge consumers of Latin American culture, anymore than they're huge consumers of Japanese culture.

The difference is that Japan isn't shifting a significant portion of their population onto our soil.

This really is a chimera, Latin culture isn't doing these things, Latin people are, as they would if they were in their proper countries. Or have Telenovas sudddenly become all the rage amongst the housefraus?

I think not.
