Maine Teachers Embrace Freedom of Speech (Unless it's Conservative)

What are our schools coming to that I have to wake up to this story this morning???

Did I somehow miss the memo excluding our school systems from the protective embrace of the First Amendment? What ever happened to school being a place to learn, think, and explore? I find it deplorable that teachers who are willing to threaten a student for trying to open a political conversation with literature that opposes their views are allowed to continue. After such a blatant and unashamed abuse of the power and TRUST they command as educators, the only job I'd like to see them holding at a school is cleaning the toilets.
