Worst. President. Ever!
So says the comic book guy from the Simpson's. No, wait a sec, a bunch of pantywaisted historians, my bad. In an article today from Yahoo's AP we learn--
These were the results: 338 said they believed Bush was failing, while 77 said he was succeeding. Fifty said they thought he was the worst president ever.
Cuz' you know, when you think of forward thinking folk what springs to mind. Historian? yeah, me too.
Now I have my beefs with President Bush, the border tops the list for me. Followed by outsourcing of jobs, and a tendency to RINO out on issues important to conservatives. I would understand if you had a different list, but the point being, I'm no shill for this administration. On some big issues I'm with them a hundred percent, war in Iraq, the economy. On others I think they bite the big one, actually creating Homeland security, not another multi-billion dollar boondoggle that swaps nameplates on the doors but doesn't address actual security.
But, worst president ever. Yeah, I seem to recall this fellow, served in the seventies, oh, what was his name again? Peanuts, big smile, kinda wimpy.
The historians then move onto specific beefs, let's take a look--
He has taken the country into an unwinnable war and alienated friend and foe alike in the process;What friend has been alienated? Name one and I'll wager I can show a connection to Oil for food. As to enemies, ummm...Thier enemies guys, I realize, as academics you don't get out much, but I don't give a rat's furry patoot what our enemies think.
Socialists? In the hallowed halls of academe? Say it ain't so!He is bankrupting the country with a combination of aggressive military spending and reduced taxation of the rich;
He has deliberately and dangerously attacked separation of church and state;Anti-christian weenies in the halls of academe? I won't believe it!
He has repeatedly "misled," to use a kind word, the American people on affairs domestic and foreign;Disagree freely, but this overwhelmingly debunked meme needs to go the way of the egghead.
He has proved to be incompetent in affairs domestic (New Orleans) and foreign (Time will tell. As to New Orleans, I think there's blame to go around, and Bush is at the bottom of that dog pile. We won't know squat about our effectiveness against Al-Quaeda ffor years to come. Why waste oxygen and ink debating it. Do they really think the terrorists aren't a threat? If so, they need some schooling of a different sort.
Iraq' and the battle against al-Qaida);
He has sacrificed American employment (including the toleration of pension and benefit elimination) to increase overall productivity;This is the only one I agree with. Though I notice the egghead weenies can't bring themselves to mention ILLEGAL immigration.
He is ignorantly hostile to science and technological progress;I don't even understand this. President Bus has a habit of pissing off the Christian Right with some regularity, so I doubt they'd agree. Oh, I forgot, he's stuuuupid!
He has tolerated or ignored one of the republic's oldest problems, corporate cheating in supplying the military in wartime.I don't doubt there's some, but, no where near the level the nattering media would have us believe. A note to the eggheads, it's expensive to do things in a war zone.
We end with this--
Quite an indictment. It is, of course, too early to evaluate a president. That, historically, takes decades, and views change over times as results and impact become more obvious. Besides, many of the historians note that however bad Bush seems, they have indeed since worse men around the White House. Some say Buchanan. Many say Vice President Dick Cheney.Cuz' yeah, as we all know, Vice President Dick Cheney is the debil.
