Guest Workers?

This topic is all the rage these days. Everywhere I turn I'm being told that our economy will collapse without these criminals, and that many, many businesses will fail without this influx of crime and disease.

Excuse me, I of course meant to say "ILLEGAL ALIENS!"

There are a plethora of lies here and I'd like to prod a couple and explain to you why their patent nonsense.

The first and most common lie goes something like this...

Without illegal aliens most restaurants, hotels and construction jobs would go unfilled. Now this one is particularly interesting to me as it touches on my field. Now twenty years ago most of these jobs were done by Americans, what's changed?

Well, the first and most obvious change is that we've stupidly allowed illegal immigrants to flood these markets which has had a specific consequence. Employers have gotten lazy. Now when I started out working in restaurants in the late seventies all our employees were Americans. Not one illegal to be seen anywhere. So we had to find people to work these positions we had available, it wasn't always easy and yet we always did find somebody.

On occasion we would approach the local high school or college, sometimes we would run ads but somebody was always found, every single time. Never did a business I worked for shut down due to a lack of employees.

But we did on occasion have to get creative or offer concessions or deals to get people to take the job. Here's a hint, that's how the free market is supposed to work.

Now, your average restaurant owner hires an illegal alien and he's set for life, so long as Americans are content with no longer doing those jobs, ever. Because that's exactly the result when an illegal alien gets into any profession.

There are many upsides for an employer. No more pesky workman's comp,. overtime, raises, benefits, withholding, or ever having to do anything other than screw over your fellow citizens to have an unending supply of cheap slave labor.

This is the reality. Whenever a boss tells you they couldn't operate their business without illegal aliens you must understand what their actually telling you. it's a twofold statement, the first part is that they're a miserable boss, the second is that their as un-American as the day is long. Hence all the caterwauling about how bad the American worker is these days.

Illegal aliens make a bosses life easier in so many ways does it really come as a surprise that they scream and yell when it appears they will lose their slaves.

I compare these unethical business owners to drug addicts and like any addict they will not be happy when the supply of their drug of choice dries up. We need to have a national intervention, and wean them off this nation destroying addiction.

But understand, this will be every bit as ugly as any other intervention. We will be called names, accused of the most heinous things, yet at the end of the day this is what needs to happen for our national health. To those enablers I ask a simple question...

Would you ever encourage a drug addict to continue their addiction?
