A Contradiction?

More Latinos are breaking out of the middle class, making six-figure incomes and reshaping the economic portrait of the country’s largest minority group. You might wonder: does this surprise Jake?
Hispanics are becoming affluent faster than the overall U.S. population, according to the Census Bureau.
Nope, not a bit. Most Hispanics I know are ferociously hard workers and when they couple that work ethic with assimilation it is an awesome force, no doubt about it.
When we recently moved we hired a crew to help move the big stuff. We tried to be diligent and live our principles and asked if the company hired illegals, they swore they didn't, all good we signed on the dotted line.
On the fateful day four Hispanic gentlemen showed up and these guys were pigs for work. They knocked it out in no time flat. I was in awe of them. I'm pretty sure one of them was illegal, but as we had zero wiggle room in our schedule we had to let it slide.
And all of this has what to do with illegal immigration?
Nothing, not a blessed thing. I'm not suggesting on this blog that Hispanics be de debbil. I'm suggesting that importing a vast number of people from all over the world in overwhelming numbers has an adverse effect on wages and a destabilizing influence on our society. If we allow people in faster than they can be assimilated into the culture it's a recipe for disaster. Has always been, and will continue to be so no matter how much your vagina hurts to hear me say it.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm well aware I'm a hater, little Chica's have told me so in no uncertain terms at Minuteman protests so it MUST BE TRUE!! Crazy, wild eyes socialists who sounded remarkably like Ricky Riccardo have called me "A Racista Minuta-man" so I know I'm busted, heh.
But seriously, why does everything have to be two dimensional in this debate? I have always averred that I bear no personal animus toward Hispanics per se. When Hispanic leaders make stupid statements that make me angry, sure I've responded in anger, so what? When they say they will, and I quote here, "take this country over for 'La Pinocha,'" I mean "La Raza" what am I supposed to say exactly?
Thank you sir may I have another, methinks not.
It's unfairness that galls the soul. If I started running around saying I was fighting for the "White Race" I would be lambasted. But why? If it's perfecty okay to fight for La Raza, or for your beautiful ebonyness, what's wrong with saying I will not go quietly into the night? That I like this nation just fine as is, that there's a difference between wanting to be a part and wanting to make it into something else entirely.
They understand this is a fight, so do I. I'm glad Hispanics are doing well financially in this country because the better they do the more they will morph into conservatives and start to act like, you know, Americans. Unless of course they become elected officials.
Is that too much to ask seeing as we're in, you know, America?
