The Definition Of Insanity?

Source: Financial Times

In a recent study we learn...
A bleak picture of the corrosive effects of ethnic diversity has been revealed in research by Harvard University’s Robert Putnam, one of the world’s most influential political scientists.

His research shows that the more diverse a community is, the less likely its inhabitants are to trust anyone – from their next-door neighbour to the mayor.
So what does pointdexter suggest we do to deal with this rather inconvenient reality?
Prof Putnam stressed, however, that immigration materially benefited both the “importing” and “exporting” societies, and that trends “have been socially constructed, and can be socially reconstructed”.

In an oblique criticism of Jack Straw, leader of the House of Commons, who revealed last week he prefers Muslim women not to wear a full veil, Prof Putnam said: “What we shouldn’t do is to say that they [immigrants] should be more like us. We should construct a new us.”
Construct a new us?

So, instead of asking our immigrants to meet some basic standards we simply destroy our society to accomodate those who were invited guests?

This doesn't even pass the laugh test. Is it just me or have we raised up a generation of academics who are incapable of dealing with harsh reality? And if they cannot even consider that which is as plain as the nose on their face how can we begin to trust anything else they do?

Construct a new us?

Why? Is there something wrong with the current us that I'm unaware of? The answer of which is yes, to our current spineless leadership this would seem like the heart of wisdom. But it ain't.

Here's an analogy, I smoke, if you enter my house you cannot demand that I stop smoking to make your visit more pleasant. You have a choice, deal with it, or don't come in. It's really not all that complicated.

We have three remarkably furry cats, if a guest in our home were allergic should we skin the cats and make soup?

This is the proper analogy, immigrants are allowed to enter our shared home, where we have certain ways of doing things. Instead of adding one appetizing dish of Baba Ghanoush to the buffet they want to repaint the foyer, select new sheets and sell the kids into slavery.

How about no. How about F*&^ no!!

Construct a new us?

Remember, this guy gets paid to think. How scary is that?
