On Iraq...

The deranged Ralph Peters has a piece on Iraq in the NY Post. He argues that our only option at this point is to fight the Iraqi government as well as the sectarian killers to restore order. He then goes on to say...

Our "humanity" is cowardice masquerading as morality. We're protecting self-appointed religious executioners with our emphasis on a "universal code of behavior" that only exists in our fantasies. By letting the thugs run the streets, we've abandoned the millions of Iraqis who really would prefer peaceful lives and a modicum of progress.

I want to focus on this one snippet...

we've abandoned the millions of Iraqis who really would prefer peaceful lives and a modicum of progress.

Now, here's how this sentence should read...

we've abandoned the millions of Iraqis who (we assume) really would prefer peaceful lives and a modicum of progress.

Because for all we know their just hunky-dory with the other side getting killed, they just don't like how it's inconveniencing them, Let us not forget these are a tribal folk who aren't lacking practice killing one another, it's not as if this sectarian crap started when we went to Iraq, it's been going on for ages.

If our boys are going to spend their lives for something let's just make sure it isn't an assumption. I think that's fair.
