A 23-year-old North Pearl Street man is charged with sexual assault for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old Bridgeton girl in July which resulted in her pregnancy.

Victor Ramirez, an undocumented construction worker also charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, was denied a bail reduction on Friday when he appeared in front of Superior Court Judge Timothy Farrell.

Innocent until proven guilty? Yes. However...

"He admitted he knew the victim's age and that there was a relationship," Assistant Prosecutor Dara Paley said, describing the victim as a family friend to Ramirez.

God knows we have plenty and then some when it comes to crime in this country. This has nothing to do with Ramirez's alleged crime being any worse than the same crime committed by a citizen. It has everything to do with the fact that, if our government was doing its job of enforcing our borders and immigration law, there is a very good chance he wouldn't have been here to have a "relationship" with rape a thirteen-year-old girl who will soon be a fourteen-year-old mother.

His attorney argued for reduced bail based on the fact that Ramirez has "substantial ties to the community." Like the ILLEGAL $400-a-week construction job his attorney suggested he could return to if the judge would just release him on bail? But, other than being and working here illegally, and the whole "relationship" rape thing, he's probably just a good-hearted, law-abiding guy, right?

Ramirez, who has allegedly gone by Ruben Mendez, was charged on July 31 with simulating an insurance identification card.

The charge was later downgraded to a municipal court offense, according to court records.

What part of get this guy the hell out my country don't they understand?
